Shape-O-Lantern

September 24, 2016 by Amy Smith

Skip out on the pumpkin carving mess and instead grab some felt pieces to make this adorable shape-o-lantern that your little ‘pumpkins’ will love!

Find out how to make this cute craft activity for kids while teaching them about shapes, colors, and patterns

The shape-o-lantern activity is a hands-on way to teach children about different shapes and colors. Simply cut out pieces of felt into various shapes and then stick them onto a larger felt board for re-usable fun learning that has no messy clean-up.  Try it out with your child today and watch their learning light up!

How to Construct

1.Start with a large piece of orange felt and cut it out into a pumpkin shape and add a short green rectangle as the stem.

2.  Cut out pieces of various shapes, sizes, and colors for the eyes, nose, and mouth of the shape-o-lantern.

3.Have your child arrange the various shapes into a face or patterns.  Have your child identify the shapes as they are putting them on the shape-o-lantern.

4. Remake faces over and over again for sustainable, mess-free fun learning!
