But, getting your child to exercise each day can sometimes be challenging, so add some creativity to your child’s exercise routine by turning them into little race cars! Kids love imaginative play and will be more motivated to run around faster and farther as a “car” than just as themselves. The added bonus about this activity is that you can make it into a craft project with your child too.
Have your child help you make the race car with the directions below. Need some inspiration for designing your race car? Look through the characters from the Disney movie, Cars, or browse through your favorite race car pictures.
How to Construct
1. Find an old box that is big enough fit your child in and cut the bottom out
2. Paint the box
3. Poke a hole in the front and back corner flaps of the box for string to tie through
4. (IMPORTANT) Measure out string or ribbon so that its long enough to go over the child’s shoulders, but short enough to keep the box above your child’s knees (your child won’t be able to run with the box over their knees).
5. (IMPORTANT) After the string is measured, tie the string or ribbon from the front right corner of the box to the back left corner of the box (and vise versa) making sure the strings cross…. if the strings don’t cross, there’s a good chance the box will slip off easily.
6. Decorate to your liking!
