Musical Monster Mash Game

October 13, 2016 by Amy Smith

Looking for a great game to play this Halloween that gets kids moving, laughing, and having fun (and doesn’t involve more candy?)  Try out this Musical Monster Mash Game, an activity that blends the concepts of musical chairs with a cake walk!  Musical Monster Mash Game is perfect for groups of all sizes and kids of all ages, and best of all, no one “looses” in this game or has to sit out.

This DIY Halloween game for kids is a spin on musical chairs and gets kids moving, laughing, and having fun. Enjoy it at your next Halloween party!

Supplies Needed

Large Felt or Foam Pieces

Index cards or paper to write out the corresponding characters to the felt pieces

Halloween music

Stickers or hand stamps (optional)

How to Play

Decorate pieces of felt or foam to look like Halloween characters (make sure you have enough characters for each child playing) and arrange in a circle on the ground.  Then write the corresponding characters on index cards. (Character ideas: Frankenstein, witch, bat, monster, mummy, pumpkin, black cat, ghost, scarecrow, fairy, pirate, ware-wolf)

Have each child start by standing on one of the characters

Instruct the children to walk around the circle while the music is playing and stop on the character nearest to them when the music stops

After each child is stopped on a character, randomly pick a corersponding character card out and announce the character

The child standing on character that was announced can earn a sticker or hand stamp (optional)

Each child then has to walk around the circle like the character that was just announced (For example, if the bat card was announced, then each child flaps their arms like a bat around the circle etc..)

Repeat until all of the cards have been picked or each child has had a turn to get a stamp or sticker

So turn up the music and let your little monsters march to the beat of this new game! Enjoy!
