Applesauce Etch-O-Sketch

October 1, 2016 by Amy Smith

Motivating children to learn new academic concepts like letters, numbers, words, and shapes can be challenging.  You may have tried using worksheets and notecards, but those methods are boring and not likely to solidify learning.  So, add in some fun and hands-on learning into your child’s education with this Applesauce Etch-O-Sketch game!

Teach your child shapes, letters, and numbers with this hands-on applesauce etch-o-sketch activity. Grab some applesauce and get to learning today!

This game will help your child with reading, writing, and math skills.  Plus, it will also help reduce frustrations with “mess-ups” as any error can be easily erased with a slight shake of the baking dish, just like in a real Etch-O-Sketch game.

Materials Needed

Applesauce

Baking Dish

Craft stick (optional)

How to Play

Pour applesauce into a dish so that it completely covers the bottom of a small baking dish

Ask your child to write letters, words, numbers, shapes, or even draw pictures with their fingers or a craft stick

Slightly shake the baking dish to erase the previous drawing and repeat

Teachers, parents, and therapists will love this inexpensive yet motivating game for kids! Your kids will love it so much that they may be asking for applesauce more often than just at snack time.  Enjoy!
